I play guitar. I am a world-class player with a highly evolved and original (though not very commercial) musical vision. I could put together a band of American (possibly) or Swedish musicians to tour the region to see if I really wanted to make the commitment to stay. I could play my own music (sort of psuedo-jazz instrumentals, influenced by Mahavishnu, Terje Rypdal, John Abercrombie, et al) or I could do a cover band thing (I sing well, and I like to play blues-based rock ala Robin Trower, Cactus, early ZZ Top). And then of course I would need to work out a way to stay. I am aged 52, and have sufficient funds banked to support myself for a year.

I am looking for advice on how I might come first for a visit and then eventually to stay in Sweden (preferably Sweden). I have some indirect connections in Sweden and Denmark (friends of friends).

I understand that it is very difficult to immigrate to Sweden, that, for example, sponsorship is required. Could joining a Swedish band be considered sponsorship? What authority could I ask these questions of?
